Jan Hodge
"(I) love capturing colorful sunsets, reflections on water, and the seasonal colors of prairies, deserts or mountains."
Jan Hodge worked in the defense industry for 30+ years as an Engineering Analyst. She did not find out she had a talent for oil painting until she retired. In 2015 she met Annette Boardman in Augusta, Kansas who operated Open Arts Door and was introduced to oil painting. In 2017 she started painting with Mary Binford Miller and Melinda J. Weis at Mark Arts.
Jan’s inspiration comes from nature. She loves being outside whether it’s walking her dog Buddy or riding her horses. She loves capturing colorful sunsets, reflections on water, and the seasonal colors of prairies, deserts or mountains. She loves old abandoned buildings with broken windows and old furniture left behind….leaving the viewer’s imagination the permission to run wild. Being an animal lover Jan loves to capture the expressions of wildlife in nature as well.
Jan has taken workshops from Christine Sundquist and Mark Flickenger. She belongs to KAOP, KAG, and NOAPS. Several of her paintings have placed in area art shows.
